In our ongoing pursuit of excellence and innovation, The Royal Conservatory of Music’s Digital Learning team was pleased to host an evening of discussion with music faculty participants attending the 2018 College & University Music Fair, held on October 20, 2018 at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto.
Participants from Queen’s University, The University of Toronto, Sheridan College, Memorial University of Newfoundland, Carleton University, and Wilfrid Laurier University shared their views on the current challenges of music education, and offered their thoughts on the future of music education at an academic level.
Leveraging Technology for Music Education
Patrick Duperré, VP of Digital Learning, along with Carey Worrod, Manager of Educational and Musical Content, found three main trends in the discussion — how educators can leverage technology in a meaningful way to support student success, informing and improving students' accessibility to digital tools that can support their individual learning styles, and availability of student resources to support in filling the music theory knowledge gap.
We will explore these three topics in upcoming posts on our site, and continue the conversation via the #musiceducation hashtag by sharing digital learning insights from experts in the technology sector, music industry, and academic institutions.
