Ken began his investment career in 1998 at Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd. as an Investment Analyst, focusing on emerging market equities. He subsequently spent five years at Foyston, Gordon & Payne Inc., where he was an Investment Analyst, Director of Research, and Portfolio Manager for mid-cap Canadian equities.
Ken joined Burgundy in June 2005 as Vice President and Manager of Research, and was promoted to Director of Research in July 2006. In this position, Ken’s primary responsibility was the hiring and development of the Investment Analyst team. In addition, Ken worked as a Senior Investment Analyst, directly involved in the investment decisions for U.S. small- and mid-cap equities. In April 2010, he was appointed a Senior Vice President of the firm, Portfolio Manager for U.S. small- and mid-cap equities and assumed responsibility for the firm’s U.S. Institutional business. In July 2011, Ken’s responsibilities expanded further to include the entire Institutional business, which manages money for some of the leading endowments, foundations and pensions in Canada, the U.S. and the U.K. In August 2012, Ken was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the firm.
Ken received his Honours Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Brock University in 1998 and was awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 2004.
Ken is a member of the CFA Institute, the Toronto CFA Society, the New York Society of Security Analysts, and the Young Presidents’ Organization.
